Staff in the emergency department receiving the flowers

Christmas Eve surprise for A&E staff at St Mary’s Hospital, thanks to Broc

Staff in the Emergency Department at St Mary’s Hospital had a lovely surprise on Christmas Eve.

Flowers donated free of charge by M&S, Morrison’s and Lidl were presented to staff in the Emergency Unit by Broc Silva.

He’d taken it upon himself to arrange the surprise. He told News OnTheWight,

“I wanted to do something for the staff, so arranged to collect any out-of-date flowers with the management.

“I did it last year too, but this was a much larger affair. I can’t believe how generous they were!”

Litter picking hero
Many people consider Broc a hero himself for his tireless litter-picking work. You might recognise his name from News OnTheWight’s reports of Broc’s litter-picking adventures back in 2019.

Carrying out duties that most believe should fall to the Isle of Wight council to take care of, Broc had put in hours and hours of back-breaking work pulling litter from hedges and roadsides over several months.

Writer and poet
Broc is not just a litter-picker and flower-giver, he’s also a poet, writer and photographer. To see Broc’s collection of books and poems head over to his page on Amazon.
