grab of website:Wight Residents against Asphalt Plant (WRAP) added another string to their bow yesterday with the launch of their fully interactive website, www.wrapmedina.info.

The asphalt plant is proposed for a site on the River Medina, just off the Cowes-Newport cycle track and Arctic Road, Cowes, affecting the residential areas of West and East Cowes, Northwood, Whippingham and Medham.

Over 500 objections
WRAP spokesperson Julia Hill reports that over 500 letters objecting to the plans for the asphalt plant have been sent to the Council, and the WRAP Facebook page now has over 100 followers.

“Messages of support for the campaign and offers of help have been flooding in,” she said.

Send objection directly from Website
The new website gives residents broader access to information about the planning application.

It allows people to write their objections directly to the IW Council’s Planning department via the site. There is also an online petition and an interactive map of the affected area.

WRAP will be adding to the Website regularly to give updates on the application’s status and provide additional information.

Julia Hill said, “We hope this website will help to raise awareness and build on the hard work put in so far by the residents of the Medina towns. Although there is strong support from people who are aware of the proposal, it is surprising how many have not heard about it, or do not yet realise its potential impact on their lives.”
