May I thank the 161 electors who voted for me in Ventnor West in last week’s election.
This is a remarkable level of support considering that electors have not had the choice of a Labour candidate in recent elections in Ventnor. Likewise Ed Gouge had more than 100 votes in Ventnor East.
Coastal Centre
I offer my best wishes to Steve Stubbings and trust that his Independents will now reverse David Pugh’s decision to sell our Coastal Centre to the highest bidder.
I look forward to representing all electors while serving on the Town Council as a member for Ventnor West.
UKIP candidate
I was, however, very disillusioned by the fact that UKIP put up a candidate in Ventnor West, in last week’s election, who did not live in the town (he is a Cowes resident), did not canvass, and did not visit his electorate.
Yet 208 people voted for him, despite the fact that he offered nothing.
I know that electors are fed up with the mainstream parties but why vote for someone who holds Ventnor West electors in such blatant disregard?
