Ten artists, one gallery, and a curator who normally works the other side of the Solent.
The Ryde Art Collective opens its 2026 exhibition in the West Gallery at Quay Arts on Saturday 26th September.
The doors stay open daily until 8th November 2026, with free entrance throughout.
Ten artists, one Island
The collective is made up of professional, contemporary artists who all call the Isle of Wight home.
Some paint. Some work in newer, technology-driven media.
What ties them together isn’t the medium but the method: each artist builds concept-driven work out of personal experience and context.

The line-up: Barbara Gowan, Fiona Schindler, Fran Farrar, Gillian Clarke, Jan Frith, Karen Mead, Richard May, Vincent Dupont-Blackshaw, Violet Mareck and Zoe Barker.

A curator from across the water
Maya Brasington has pulled the show together. She’s an artist and curator in her own right, and currently holds the curatorial lead role at Aspex Portsmouth.
Under her curation, ten distinct practices sit side by side in the West Gallery, rather than competing for space.
Getting there
The Ryde Art Collective‘s 2026 exhibition takes place in the West Gallery at Quay Arts from 26th September to 8th November (closed on 24th October) 2026.
Anyone wanting a first look should head to the private view on Friday 25th September 2026, from 6pm.
After that, the gallery keeps daily hours, 9am to 4pm, and entry is free.
