Steep Path enhanced with new handrail at Widdick Chine thanks to Isle of Wight Ramblers

If you walk down the steep path at Widdick Chine, leading to Totland Bay, then you’ll appreciate the addition of the new handrail.

Funded and installed by the Isle of Wight Ramblers, the 65m handrailing is made of Douglas Fir, with oak posts cemented into chalk.

The T33 footpath is part of the coast path which will soon become a National Trail and part of the England Coast Path.

David Howarth of Isle of Wight Ramblers explained,

“Funding was achieved from the sale of local walking guides.

The Ramblers’ publication, The Vectis Trail, has been revised and reprinted. You’ll soon be able to purchase a copy from local shops, as well as the Isle of Wight Ramblers Website.
