Hot on the heels of her captivating Dickens talk at East Dene for the Worshipful Company of Fuellers, local historian and storyteller Sue Lowday will be leading five unmissable walks during the Isle of Wight Walking Festival.
These walks will uncover the secrets of Bonchurch, one of the Island’s most beautiful and intriguing villages. Highlights include:
- Two Dickens Walks – tracing Charles Dickens’ 1849 holiday in Bonchurch, the people he met, and the stories that inspired his writing.
- A Graveyard Walk – a journey through Bonchurch’s two peaceful and spiritual graveyards, revealing extraordinary tales of the remarkable figures laid to rest there.
- Fabulous and Famous Bonchurch – including “Why did Tennyson choose to live on the Isle of Wight?” Discover poets, artists, writers, musicians and more recent local legends, with Sue’s illustrations bringing the past vividly to life.
