Vectis Isle Pioneers Motorcycle Club compete in eighth round of Championship

Thanks to Wayne for this latest news from the Vectis Isle Pioneers Motorcycle Club (VIPMCC). Ed

The eighth round of the 2015 Championship was held at Sweetwater Brook, Calbourne, courtesy of Mr Trevor Strickland.

Warm welcome for Reggie
We would like to welcome youngster Reggie Price to the Club. Reggie is now the youngest ever rider to take part in one of our trials. This is because of the introduction of all electric, battery-powered trials bikes.

Riders can now start at the age of four years old on one of these machines, Reggie celebrated his fourth Birthday in July this year! Youth riders have to be six years old before they can ride petrol powered 50cc bikes. Reggie did really well at his first attempt and we look forward to seeing him at future events.

Clear winner
Harrison Crickmore (pictured below) and Alfie Haydon (pictured at top of article) competed against each other in the E class – it was Harrison who was the clear winner – although Alfie did well on his smaller wheeled bike. Owen Moore, riding unopposed, put in a confident performance to finish on a respectable score of forty eight to bag another ten Championship points.

Brendon Penn also rode a blinder to take the Youth Easy class – although there is nothing ‘easy’ in this class as riders compete on the ‘C’ route! Jos Wright (Youth Expert – pictured below) earned himself another win. This time, thanks to Dad, with “a slightly better back brake” than before!

Adult riders
Phil Silvester took the Adult Beginner class for ten more Championship points. The well-contested Novice class proved to be a very close affair between the usual three suspects. It was Paul Kent who took top spot from Wayne Brodie in second and Brian Brockwell in third, just four marks separated these three!

The Twin shock class was convincingly won by Calvin Wright dropping just thirty one marks from Stewart Freeman – sections three and seven made all the difference here. Geoff Taylor was the lone rider in the Intermediate class but never the less posted a really competitive score to earn his win.

Thanks
The Club would like to thank Trevor Strickland for the use of his land.

A very big thank you also goes to Howard Jacobs who once again provided us with eight excellent and clever sections – good effort, particularly as after we packed up Howard was off to work for a night shift!

We must not forget the advance party that turned up to clear the way and Viki Taylor for her fantastic images.

Next trials
The next Club trial will be held on Sunday 15th of November.

The venue is yet to be confirmed – please check the Club website or our Facebook Group nearer the time for the full details.
