Village of Angels returns to St Helens: This year fundraising for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events

The annual Village of Angels event is returning to St Helens this December.

This year’s event will be launched on Saturday 4th December at the Christmas Fayre, which takes place from 5pm to 8pm in the Pavilion on the Village Green and in the Winter Wonderland Garden at The Vine Inn.

There will be a range of seasonal stalls together with Christmas Games and Santa’s Grotto.

What to expect
Carol Singers will be performing during the event and the Village Christmas Tree lights will be switched on at 6pm. The tree will be decorated with Angels made by children at the Village School.

Angels have already started to appear in the Village. The organisers have received a large number of entries. A Map will be available from Saturday to help people find all the Angels when they walk around the Village

Best Angel competition
As usual there is a competition for the best Angel in both Child and Adult categories with cash prizes for the adult category and WH Smith vouchers as prizes for children. There will also be a prize raffle on Saturday.

Tickets are already on sale and the draw will take place at the launch event. Prizes include a Luxury Christmas Hamper and a short break at the St Helens Coastal Resort.

Angels of all shapes and sizes will be created by Village residents. As usual the organisers are encouraging people to create Angels from recycled materials and lit by solar power.

Elliott: Fundraising for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events
Sarah Elliott, Vice Chair of St Helens Parish Council and chief organiser of the event said,

“The Village of Angels Event has become a regular part of the Village calendar in St Helens and always shows off the artistic ingenuity and creativity of residents.

“This year we will be raising money to support events we will be running next summer to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“We are anticipating a bumper entry this year which will make St Helens somewhere you should definitely visit at some point during the festive season.”
