Walk the Wight 2017 by Chris Mathews

Walk the Wight 2021 will go ahead as 100 volunteers step forward

Walk the Wight will go ahead on Sunday after a huge response to Mountbatten’s plea for more volunteers.

An urgent appeal for people to help at the walk was issued by Mountbatten yesterday (Monday).

Many have come forward and filled the gaps to ensure the event can be held as planned.

Hartley: A huge thank you
Mountbatten CEO, Nigel Hartley, said,

“From the bottom of our hearts, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in our incredible Island community who has come forward to help us.

“This has been an extraordinary response and has given us all a huge lift ahead of Sunday.

“We have faced so many challenges this year but we were always absolutely determined to organise Walk the Wight because it is so important to us.

“To everyone who has come forward, and to those already volunteering on the day, thank you so much.”

Still time to take part
The walk starts at Bembridge at 6am on Sunday. People can sign up on the day between 6am and 8am.

Walkers preferring to walk the second half can register at Carisbrooke between 8am and 12pm or the Flat Walk at Sandown from 8am until 10am.
