Belgrave Road: Main reinstalment works to start in late summer

Recent heavy rainfall has caused some isolated settling of the slipped wall at Belgrave Road and, as previously communicated, Island Roads has closed the pedestrian access on Esplanade Road as a precautionary measure whilst further assessment and monitoring is undertaken.

Island Roads and the council  continue to regularly update the local residents and the Ventnor community with the current progress on the re-instatement of Belgrave Road and the supporting walls.

Main works to start in late summer
Pre-works to strengthen the surrounding walls in preparation for the re-instalment of the failed Belgrave Road walls commenced in late July.

Island Roads is currently finalising the procurement of a specialist construction team to, as planned, start delivering the main works with a target to commence in late summer.

Ensuring new wall meets the needs of Ventnor
We have been working with the conservation officer and local residents as well as Ventnor Town Council to ensure that the new wall and road will meet the needs of the Ventnor community in the future.

As the delivery phase of this project progresses, we will ensure the local and wider Island community receive regular updates over the coming months.
