Bestival Rape Suspect Released With No Further Action

Police TapePolice confirm a 21-year-old man from London was released from bail with no further action on Monday, October 17, 2011.

Detectives investigated an allegation of rape at the Bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight after officers were called during the early hours of Saturday morning, September 10, 2011, when a 15-year-old girl from the island approached stewards on the campsite.

The girl was looked after by police officers and staff with expertise and experience in dealing with sexual offences.

The 21-year-old man from London was arrested shortly after 4.30am on Saturday, September 10, 2011 and taken to a police station for questioning. He was bailed by police to allow time for further enquiries to be carried out. The decision to take no further action was made after these enquiries.

Police would like to thank Bestival promoters for all their assistance with the investigation.
