Police appeal for help in identifying woman

Police have issued a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the fraudulent use of a bank card in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

Fraudulent card suspectThe card was used on August 27 at the ATM by the Co-operative store in Anglesea Street at 11.14am and then at Barclays Bank at 11.37am on the same day. It was used again at the Co-op on August 30 at about 1.26pm and the following day (August 31) at 10.16am. In total a sum of £1200 was withdrawn.

Description of suspect
The suspect is described as:

  • White woman
  • Middle-aged, in her 50s
  • Large build
  • Short length dark hair
  • Possibly wearing glasses
  • Light blue top and trousers
  • Carrying a black shoulder bag

Investigating Officer, PC Alan Spence of Newport DCID said:

“The victim in this case is a very vulnerable elderly lady in her late 80s. I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the woman in this CCTV image as she may be able to assist us with our enquiries.

“She was in the vicinity of both the Co-operative store and Barclay’s bank at around the times that the bank card was used on those occasions.”
