Over the past five years, there have been 65 deaths at the south east coast during the summer months of June, July and August – more than at any other time of the year.
A jet-ski, bought just three days before, failed on a Gosport man, who had to be rescued from the shipping lane by Cowes RNLI and helped home by Red Funnel.
Cowes Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Sheena Louise, was rededicated by the station’s chaplain to officially mark its return after undergoing a refurbishment at the RNLI’s East Cowes-based Inshore Lifeboat Centre.
