Isle of Wight College principal Ros Parker to step down in 2026

The Isle of Wight College has today announced that Principal Ros Parker will be stepping down from her role at the conclusion of the 2026 academic year, following four years of dedicated service to the College and its wider community.

Ros Parker

Ros joined the College in 2022, bringing with her extensive experience in Further and Adult Education. Prior to her arrival on the Island, she served as Principal of Southend Community College for three years, where she was recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2021 for her significant contributions to adult education and community development.

Overseen a period of remarkable growth
During her tenure at The Isle of Wight College, Ros has overseen a period of remarkable growth and transformation.

Under her leadership, the College has broadened its curriculum, deepened partnerships, supported community engagement, led a significant number of capital projects to completion and continued to focus on improving student outcomes across a diverse range of vocational and academic programmes.

A lasting legacy
Chair of Governors, Sara Weech, commented,

“While we are saddened by Ros’ decision to step down, we are deeply grateful for her exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to our students, staff, and the wider community.

“Her vision and passion have left a lasting legacy, and we wish her every success in her future endeavours.”

Parker: Increased caring responsibilities
Reflecting on her time at the College, Ros said,

“It has been an absolute joy and privilege to be part of our students’ journeys and to witness their growth and achievements—made possible by the unwavering dedication of our staff and the support of our wonderful community.

“However, due to changes in my personal circumstances, I now have increasing caring responsibilities that require my attention.

“Regrettably, this means stepping away from a role and sector I care deeply about.”

Volunteering roles
Ros will remain on the Island, where she plans to dedicate her time to volunteering with three local charities, continuing to make a meaningful contribution to Island life.

The Board of Governors will begin the process of recruiting a new Principal in the Autumn Term and will share further updates in due course.
