Library cards now unlock expanded digital reading collection

The Isle of Wight Library Service has enhanced its digital offerings, giving library card holders access to an expanded range of free online content.

The service has updated its popular BorrowBox app to include ePress, a new feature that provides users with access to newspapers and magazines at no additional cost.

All digital services now under one roof
Library members can now access eBooks, eAudiobooks, newspapers, and magazines through a single platform using their library card number and four-digit PIN.

The enhancement comes as the Isle of Wight Council’s Library Service discontinues its subscription to the PressReader app, consolidating its digital services.

Emery: Will make things easier in the long run
Development librarian Louise Emery addressed the transition, stating,

“We understand that any change can cause a little disruption, but we’re confident that bringing all our digital services together in one app will make things easier for our customers in the long run.”

Classical music streaming also available
The Library Service also promotes its free access to the Naxos Music Library, which offers more than 1.4 million classical music tracks through streaming.

Library members can access this service through the Naxos website or mobile app without charge.

Support available for digital services
Island libraries and the council website provide comprehensive instructions for using both BorrowBox and Naxos services.

Library staff offer assistance and demonstrations for users who need guidance with the digital platforms.

Anyone with queries about the services can contact the library team at [email protected].
