Naturezones will celebrate the red squirrels that frequent their grounds on 15th June 2025.
Years of careful management, particularly extensive hazel tree planting, have created ideal habitat conditions for the red squirrel population.
Family-friendly activities throughout the day
The celebration will feature a hazelnut quiz designed to educate visitors about the red squirrels’ favourite food source.
Children can participate in a chocolate workshop, learning about treats that mirror the red squirrels’ natural diet.
A tree fancy dress competition will take place specifically for young visitors.
Free entry for families in costume
There is free entry for children and their accompanying parents, provided the children arrive in fancy dress.
The tree theme connects directly to wildlife observation techniques.
Founder of Naturezones, Angela Hewitt, said,
“Learning to be still and quite is the best way to see wildlife up close.”
There’ll be cash prizes for the best dressed trees.
Evening programme features wildlife photographer
The day ends with a pre-film buffet cooked by award-winning chef, Angela Hewitt, and film presentation.
Paul Windridge will present “Fox Tales,” demonstrating how remaining motionless and quiet proves effective for wildlife watching.
Tickets are £18 per person.
The talk will reinforce the day’s central message about patient observation of local wildlife.
