RSPCA Isle of Wight is offering free welfare clinics for Cats, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs to help pet owners on the Isle of Wight.
These drop-in sessions run throughout the year and offer practical assistance and friendly advice to help pet owners keep their animals happy and healthy.
No need to pre-book
The RSPCA’s experienced team can help with grooming, teeth and ear checks, nail clipping and scent gland cleaning.
All events take place at the RSPCA’s Island Animal Centre near Rookley between 11am and 3pm – there’s no need to pre-book.
All help is offered free – a suggested donation of £3 per animal is always welcome and helps to cover the cost of running each session.

There to assist anyone who’d appreciate a helping hand
Carrie-Anne Turrell, who heads the RSPCA’s Small Animal Team, adds,
“Pet owners on the Island really value our welfare clinics.
“Tasks such as clipping nails can seem daunting at first; we’re there to assist anyone who’d appreciate a helping hand and to answer any questions that members of the public may have about caring for their pet.
“We love meeting lots of rabbits and guinea pigs and offering this service to our community.”
Davies: We’re happy to offer practical help
Georgina Davies, who leads the care of cats at the RSPCA Animal Centre, commented,
“We’re excited to be offering our first welfare clinic for cats this January.
“We’re happy to offer practical help and a simple health check as well as someone knowledgeable to talk to about their cat’s health, diet and behaviour.”

Low-cost microchipping
The RSPCA team can also offer low-cost microchipping (£10 per animal) and can check that contact details stored on the national database are up to date. Thousands of pets are lost every year and many are never reunited with their owners.
Microchipping gives pets the best chance of being identified and returned if they get lost or stolen (it’s also a legal requirement for all dogs and cats).
When
The next Cat welfare clinic is on Sunday 25th January, with future events in April, July and October.
The next Rabbit and Guinea Pig welfare clinic is on Sunday 15th February, repeated in May, August and November.
