Scam: Reports of people claiming to be from BT/EE needing personal details to take over WightFibre contracts

Wightfibre have been in touch about a scam on the Isle of Wight they want to warn readers about.

A spokesperson for the company told News OnTheWight,

“We have noticed some reporting of people claiming to be from BT/EE and knocking on resident’s doors claiming that they are there to take over their WightFibre contract and they must give them all their details to help them process the change over.

“This is clearly a scam, completely untrue, and we would like to warn everyone that if it happens to them they must report them to the Trading Standards immediately and definitely not give them any information.

“If they feel threatened in any way they must call the police.”
