Slippery paving in town centre to be tackled

The paving stones are made of limestone – which is a naturally slippery material particularly when wet.

Slippery when wetWhilst the paving has been routinely treated to improve skid resistance, a more permanent solution is now being explored.

In the meantime, Island Roads is installing signs on lampposts along the street to help warn the public of the potential risk as well as alerting local businesses in the area.
