Just in time for the public meeting being held on Tuesday evening, Island Roads has issued the final version of their design for the replacement railings on Ventnor Cascade.

The Isle of Wight council announced earlier this month that the pedestrian access up and down the iconic Cascade (Rene Howe Walk) would be closed for 27 weeks when work begins in September to replace the current railings.

Last week News OnTheWight was given access to an artist’s impression of the replacement railings, along with a Temporary Access Agreement that had been signed off by representatives from Island Roads and Ventnor Town Council.

News OnTheWight’s Facebook post attracted more than 130 comments from readers, unhappy with the design of the replacement railings.

Fine details now confirmed
Now that final confirmation on the fine details from the council’s Conservation Officer has been received, Island Roads have shared the updated version of the artist’s impression.
