Ventnor Fringe: Get Out Of The Rain And Take In Some Shows

Don’t let the damp weather put you off coming to Ventnor today. There are plenty of indoor events taking place around the town.

On now (between 2-3pm) you can pop into the marquee on Salisbury Gardens to see Rob Barrett perform his Spoken Word event – it won’t cost you a penny to get in.

From 2.30pm at St Catherine’s School is The Great Ventnor Tea Dance.

Being hosted by Brighton’s Ragroof Theatre this very special afternoon tea dance is for all ages and levels of experience. Why not trip the light fantastic to the sounds of the roaring 20s, 30s and 40s and encounter our recreation of the glamorous heyday of ballroom dance, with a dash of luscious Latin and scintillating swing. It’ll cost you £3 to get in.

Later on from 5pm, The String Theatre will be performing children’s puppet show, The Red Balloon at the Bijou Theatre (Ventnor Youth Centre). It’ll cost you just £2 to get in.

6pm sees Untied Artists Present ‘Al Bowlly’s Croon Manifesto’, a rip-roaring evening of music, theatre and dance in celebration of the pre-pop pioneer. This stylish show tears up the bio-play format and reinvents Bowlly’s story in a way that’s fast paced, funny, charming, and as liberal with the truth as the man himself was.

Featuring live music from the audaciously talented ‘Gramophone Party’ and performance from Jake Oldershaw (associate artist Stan’s Cafe) and Nick Trigg (Slot Machine, The People Show). Tickets are £8 each and it takes place at St Catherine’s School.
