Brave Island: New opportunities for young Islanders to experience working in the creative industries (updated)

You have have kids or grandkids who live on the Isle of Wight and are aged 14 to 25-year-old, make sure they know about Brave Island, the dedicated arts platform.

The range of opportunities is always varied and designed to appeal to the curious, who want to find out more about working in the creative industries.

The latest batch of opportunities (that are still open for applications) includes a chat with a theatre maker, a chance to have your work exhibited, learn to DJ or produce music and find out more about writing, directing or producing films.

Your chance to gain advice and have an informal chat with Peter Higgin, artistic director of Punchdrunk Enrichment and co-founder member of leading theatre company Punchdrunk.

Punchdrunk pioneers a form of theatre in which roaming audiences experience epic storytelling inside sensory theatrical worlds. The company have created award-winning shows including Sleep No More (London, New York, Shanghai), Masque of the Red Death and Faust.

18 to 25-year-olds with an interest in film making are invited to an online talk Alix Taylor, BFI Network Talent Executive at Film Hub South West.

This is a great chance for those at the very start of their careers but with a serious interest in writing, directing or producing film.

Brave Sounds DJ Drop-In
Are you interested in DJing and Producing music? Starting with fortnightly DJ drop-in workshops so you can learn how to DJ and mix.

You don’t need any prior experience and you will learn how to DJ and mix both digital and vinyl.

These workshops will be hosted by Ed Eldridge, Ed is a Music Producer and DJ, he is the Founder and resident DJ at Rough Draft, a club night based in Bristol.
