Discover Ventnor’s independent shops and eateries on ‘Christmas in Ventnor Day’

Last updated:

Ventnor has a rich history of small independent businesses, offering interesting and useful services or items for sale.

This Saturday (16th Dec 2023) will be the perfect time to check out all that the town has to offer because it’s Christmas in Ventnor Day.

There’ll be a whole host of activities going on around the town, from storytelling and window spotting, to live music and entertainment (more on that later).

Independent shops
This is by no means the full list, but small independent retailers such as Lesley’s Nutshell, Blue Labelle, Magpie Blu and The Athanor have a large selection of Christmas gift ideas.

Church Street welcomes you to Sophie Honeybourne Jewellery, Roake, Ventnor Exchange, the St Catherine’s charity shop and Church Street Motorcycles.

You can browse collections of new and pre-loved vinyl at Reggie’s Retro and Ventnor Exchange, or perhaps pick up a piece of original art in Pier Street Gallery, or Peer Studios.

If it’s clothes or accessories you’re looking for try Coastal Clothing on Pier Street, or Luchelle, which now boasts much bigger retail space and has been lovingly decorated, making it a great addition to the High Street.

Next door, you’ll find Attis Natural Products, where there’s a superb range of natural products for sale from soaps to bath salts, candles to creams and lotions.

Cafes and restaurants
If you’re looking for a bite to eat, there’s plenty of choice: from Carnaby Tea Rooms to Better Days Cafe, London House to Cantina, Amacord for pizza and pasta, Tru Food to Drunken Lobster and there’s always Two Cooks and The Bistro on Pier Street, not forgetting New China House or Masala Bay.

You can always wander down to the seafront too, to check out the range of offerings.

The town is still open!
With two of the three roads in and out of the town currently closed (that might change by Friday night so check back here then) you’ll have to arrive via Whitwell by car, on the Route 6 into town, or Route 3 to Upper Ventnor and stroll down the hill.

It’s been a very difficult week for retailers, so any support you can offer would be very much appreciated.
