East Cowes Town Council has announced the successful completion of two major renovation projects on the Esplanade.
The public toilets and paddling pool have both undergone extensive upgrades, creating clean, accessible, and welcoming facilities for the community and visitors.
Toilets now open with inclusive features
The refurbished public toilets are now open to the public. They feature modern cubicles, fresh contemporary flooring, and stylish Cotswold-style cladding that enhances the look of the building and its surroundings.

The upgrade also includes the introduction of a wheelchair-accessible talking telescope.
This new feature offers an inclusive and engaging experience, allowing visitors of all abilities to enjoy the views in a more interactive way.
Paddling Pool restored for centenary celebrations
To mark the 100th anniversary of the much-loved Paddling Pool, East Cowes Town Council has completed a major refurbishment of the site.
Originally opened in 1925, the pool has been an important part of the town’s seaside character for generations. Renovation works included resurfacing the pool basin with a child-friendly finish and upgrading the filtration and circulation systems for improved water quality and sustainability.

Investing in the future
Councillor Tracy Reardon, Mayor of East Cowes Town Council, said,
“The two major projects undertaken on the Esplanade Paddling Pool and Toilets this year confirm the commitment of East Cowes Town Council to ensure the esplanade provides first class facilities for the community and visitors alike.”
She added,
“The Paddling Pool has been at the heart of our community for a century. We’re thrilled to see it looking better than ever and ready to welcome a new generation of families from all over the Island this summer.
“This project reflects our commitment to preserving local heritage while investing in the future of East Cowes.”
The refurbished Paddling Pool will officially reopen to the public later this month.
