Green Open Homes: A chance to experience first-hand energy-efficient living: Book now

Last updated:

Are you interested in lower bills, a more comfortable home, and a smaller environmental footprint? Who wouldn’t be?

The big question is how do we transform our homes from what they are today to that ideal condition in terms of energy efficiency?

Green Open Homes
That’s where Wight Community Energy’s new Green Open Homes event comes in.

During the last weekend of February and the second weekend of March, six ‘eco-friendly’ homes will be open for public visits.

This will give people the opportunity to learn first-hand about heat pumps, solar panels, solar thermal, in-depth insulation schemes and high-tech sustainable design.

Renovations and new builds
There will be three renovated properties available to visit and three new builds, giving visitors the change to learn about the different pathways to energy efficient homes.

The enthusiastic hosts will be able to explain the benefits of investing in low energy renovation and design, while also pointing out some of the pitfalls to avoid!

“Nothing beats conversations with those who’ve been through the process first-hand”
Event organiser Stephen said,

“It has been a real pleasure meeting the participating homeowners and visiting their homes.

“I really wish that I’d had the chance to speak to people on these topics before starting my own home renovation.

“Of course, you can learn a huge amount online and from skilled installers, but nothing beats having conversations with those who have been through the process first-hand.”

How to take part
Green Open Homes will run on the weekends of 24th and 25th February and 9th and 10th March, with visits booked through the website.

Wight Community Energy and our hosts would love to share our experiences, so we hope to see you soon.

Lastly, if you have an eco-home and you would like to share your experiences then it is not too late to take part as a host, please contact [email protected] to find out more.
