Help protect local woodlands by becoming a volunteer Warden

The Woodland Trust is inviting local residents to become volunteer Wardens at America Wood near Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

The role is ideal for people who enjoy regular outdoor walks and want to help protect and care for this valued local woodland.

Help monitor and protect the woodland
Volunteer Wardens will walk set routes through America Wood, looking out for any issues and reporting them to the Woodland Trust Site Manager.

They will also be asked to note any interesting wildlife they spot during their visits.

Year-round involvement with flexible hours
The Trust asks volunteers to be available to visit the wood throughout the year, with timings flexible to suit the individual.

Volunteers will need access to a phone, the Internet and an email address. Sturdy footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing are also essential.

Open to younger volunteers with a guardian
Under 18s can take part, but only if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered as a Woodland Trust volunteer.

Visit the Woodland Trust website for more information.
