Isle of Wight Film Festival 2012: The Winners

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2012 Isle of Wight Film Festival. Film-makers from around the world travelled to Ventnor last week to take part in the Festival which was a great success.

The banner:On The Wight were proud to be sponsoring the feature film section of the festival, as well as judging and awarding the Best Feature Film.

It was a difficult choice to make between the three films presented to us, as all had their merits, but we felt Dusk by Hanro Smitsman should receive the award.

It was an incredibly brave subject for the the director to take on and shot with great subtlety and sensitivity.

Hanro wasn’t there to receive his award, which was a fabulous glass award made by Ed at Glory Art Glass in Sandown, but it’ll be winging its way to him this week.

Kyle Abram Islander, Kyle Abram (pictured) received the award for Best Isle of Wight Short for “Dave Confessions of a Beach Scoundrel”. Kyle also received an Isle of Wight-made glass award from Glory Art Glass.

Best Drama went to Layke Anderson for Dylan’s Room. Layke received £1,000 of Fuji Film and Processing.

Best Environmental Short went to James Morgan for People Of The Coral Triangle. James received a £100 gift voucher from Rapanui.

Harold Chapman took the first prize for the Best Human Rights Short film. He received gifts from Amnesty International for his short, Invisible.
