Shot from the film:Occasionally, a film is directed that manages to combine some serious attention with a premise that is easily comprehended, although difficult to transcribe. In a nutshell The Awakening has one major ace up its ethereal sleeve and that is the sublime fascination of immense talent that is Rebecca Hall.

Considering such a film without her stunning capabilities would have been watchable as a good story. Yet the invincible Rebecca Hall manages to cause The Awakening to become an astounding series of events cinematically.

BBC presentation
The actual story has been presented by the BBC. No, come back, I’m serious. It doesn’t mean it’s a piece of lesser dross. The level of the production is highly original. Well, if you don’t think of it as a period drama X-Files. Oh, well okay it’s not so original but it does have Rebecca Hall in it.

It is of course a tale of a haunting that’s neatly sewed together on an intense psychological level as well as subtle effects buttons being used but perhaps more importantly it has Rebecca Hall in it. Did I mention that already?

High-calibre acting
So, throughout the film, the onscreen acting is of a high-calibre setting and the story is extremely well thought through. Whether someone would nit-pick that this film passes more than a strong resemblance to ‘The Others’ or just about ‘The Sixth Sense’, you should pour biscuit crumbs into the beds of whoever mentioned such things because both films of the haunting genre were seriously lacking in Rebecca Hall.

‘The Awakening’ is aiming high from the very start. Higher even than Oscar nominations. The cast of this film are aiming and hoping to work again, probably with Rebecca Hall. Who I should mention is not in enough films these days. In fact I would estimate that over a hundred films are wasted efforts this year alone due to the lack of Rebecca Hall in any of them. Maybe she should be reading The News for the BBC?

Rebecca Hall appreciation society
Just imagine ‘The News with Rebecca Hall’ has a nice ring to it and also viewers would probably actually watch The News. I can’t imagine her doing the weather though. She’s more of a ‘don’t take the camera off her she’s so beautiful’ kind of actress. Of course you’re probably seeking a review of the film. You know is it any good etc?

Man, if it was a film about making road-signs and Rebecca Hall was in it, it would be worth seeing you know what I mean? This is the next best thing. Let’s be honest if you want to see infinite ethereal beauty in a film this millennium then track down anything with Rebecca Hall in it. My copy of ‘Vicky Christina Barcelona’ is worn through. The story’s about a haunting or something, I think, but you know, Rebecca Hall’s in it, so I was a bit distracted. Trust me though – you won’t be disappointed. Why?

BECAUSE REBBECA HALL’S IN THIS FILM!
