(Live) Coverage of Council in High Court Over Library Closures

Today, at the High Court in London, an Island resident is taking the first steps in a legal action against the Isle of Wight Council, attempting to stop them from closing Island libraries.

phone used for live reportingVentnorBlog will be there, in the courtroom, reporting on the legal twists and turns from both sides.

VB has made a special request to the Judge, asking that we report live from court, to give Islanders free and open access to the process. We understand that he’s accepted, but we await final confirmation.

This hearing is a prelude to the Judicial Review, which would see the internal workings and decisions of the council, in relation to the proposed closure of five Island libraries, thoroughly examined.

We don’t remember the last time the Isle of Wight council was in court (although a Google search tells us that it was 2008).

Make sure you keep an eye on VB from 11.30am this morning.
