A community fundraising challenge is set to roll into action on Thursday 27th August 2026, as skaters come together at Skates in Newport to complete a 10-mile sponsored indoor skate in aid of Daisy Ring Bus.
Taking place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, the event aims to raise vital funds for the volunteer-run Community Interest Company, which provides transport for Isle of Wight cancer patients travelling to hospitals in Southampton and Portsmouth for treatment and appointments.
Around 2,000 passengers a month
For many patients, these journeys are frequent, essential, and difficult to manage without support. Daisy Ring Bus offers more than just transport – it provides a reliable, compassionate service that helps ensure patients can access the care they need with dignity and peace of mind.
Thanks to extraordinary community backing, the service has been running successfully and now carries around 2,000 passengers every month, including one of our skaters, Tracy.
Where the money goes
Funds raised from the sponsored skate will help cover the ongoing costs of operating the service, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, and other essential running expenses.
Every mile completed and every donation received will directly help Island cancer patients.
