The Pill debut single ‘Bale of Hay’ sparks excitement with critical acclaim and national radio play

Isle of Wight punk band, The Pill, have released their debut single ahead of a summer of south coast performances and shows in Oxford and London.

Bale of Hay has already gained national interest and has been played on BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X, as well as receiving acclaim from the music press since its launch.

Kennedy: Can’t wait to hear more from them
Radio X’s John Kennedy said of The Pill and their new track:

“Sounding fantastic, I think.

“Can’t wait to hear more from them.”

Bale of Hay is described by the band as a “noisy checklist about the realities of being blonde” and is perfect for fans of Amyl and the Sniffers, The Slits, Otoboke Beaver and Beastie Boys.

You can listen to Bale of Hay on YouTube (not work safe or for the faint hearted).

Recorded at Empire Studios
Fronted by singers and guitarists Lily Hutchings and Lottie Massey, The Pill’s line-up also includes Rufus Reader, on drums.

Bale of Hay was recorded at Empire Studios in Newport and was produced by brothers, Rob and Jim Homes.

“Making music and being creative with your best friends is the most fun”
The Pill said,

“It’s so exciting to have our debut single out now!

“Making music and being creative with your best friends is the most fun and we’re so grateful to be doing it.

“It’s been a long time coming, but the reception has been amazing and we’re so excited to start our creative journey as The Pill.

“We wrote Bale of Hay back in early 2020 and it’s so crazy that she’s now out in the big blue. May our child grow and prosper.”
