The new Isle of Wight Council member for Chale, Niton and Whitwell is Dave Stewart
Conservative candidate Mr Stewart was elected by voters in the ward following polling today (Thursday 11 November)
He polled 510 votes, beating Liberal Democrat candidate Malcolm Groves (365 votes) into second place. Third was Labour candidate Josh Cooper with 76 votes.
The turnout was 39.09 per cent
The by-election followed the resignation of the former member, Conservative William Wyatt-Millington.
