A unique immersive art experience is coming to All Saints’ Church, Calbourne, on Saturday 5th July (12pm-7pm), as part of the Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival.
Created by local artist Nathan Holt as part of his MA Fine Art final project, ‘Translating Frequencies:639’ invites participants to engage with the church and its surrounding environment through sound.
Using field recordings made in and around the 12th-century church, Holt has composed a site-specific soundscape that explores deep listening, architectural acoustics, and the subtle vibrations of place.
Experience sound in a new and embodied way
In collaboration with Widget Productions, photographer Pete Johnstone and textile artist Prilly Lewis, the installation is designed to gently activate the senses, offering participants the chance to experience sound in a new and embodied way.

The project has been developed in partnership with All Saints’ Church, Calbourne, and is proud to be part of the IW Biosphere Festival 2025 programme, highlighting creative responses to environment, heritage, and place.
Free entry. All are welcome.
*For those not able to make the live event, a digital online immersion version will be made
available on the same day and is also free to access via Nathan Holt’s website.
