The Wight Aviation Museum Team had the great pleasure of recently enjoying a game of Crazy Golf at Shanklin’s Rylstone Tea Gardens.
The reason that the Crazy Golf course was awash with the sky blue shirts of the WAM volunteers was the new attraction at Hole Number 10 a model replica of the Wight Aviation Museum hangar at Sandown Airport.
A new Island landmark
It was constructed by WAM volunteer Terry Shaw, and now joins a number of well known Isle of Wight landmarks, including The Needles, Carisbrooke Castle and even the Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat, as a feature for visitors to the Island.

Praise all round
Terry said it was pleasure to be asked to create the model and Bob and Margo Jackson the owners of Rylstone Tea Garden commented,
“It’s a fantastic new obstacle and we are very impressed with its design and quality.”

Helen Blake, Museum Manager of WAM, enthused,
“The WAM team, had a great day out and it is very pleasing to see the Wight Aviation Museum now recognised as a ‘landmark’ feature on the Isle of Wight.”

What’s next for WAM
Keep an eye on the WAM website and the Sandown Airport website for information about other events throughout the summer.
As usual the museum will be open to all visitors on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and
Tuesdays from 10:00 to 15:00 each day.
