What is Wight Noize?
The Wight Noize initiative was conceived by Platform One, who have continuously strived to develop opportunities for young bands, artists and musician’s resident on the Island since 1999.

Wight Noize is a mechanism to support young musicians on the Isle of Wight. The concept is to support emerging performers who are actively seeking to take the next steps into the industry, in providing them with the opportunity to perform their original music at a major internationally acclaimed music festival.

The Panel
The Wight Noize industry showcase took place on Saturday 18th May at Strings Music Venue, Newport. The industry panel included venue owner Claydon Conor, Jess Paine from SyncVault, Silas Gregory from Chalkpit Records and Rob Homes from Empire Sounds.

The panel gave each act feedback and made the decision of one act to open the mainstage on Sunday 19th June at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Pontin: The standard of all acts was unbelievable
David Pontin, Director, Platform One Platform One College of Music, who has been involved in the festival since its rebirth in 2002, said,

“What an incredible evening, showcasing the talents of young musicians on the Island. The standard of all acts was unbelievable. The opportunity to be involved in the Isle of Wight Festival has made a significant difference.

“This is the twentieth year that Platform One have been involved with the Festival. We are so proud of the achievements of all of our incredible students.”

Giddings: Very proud to be a patron of Platform One
Opportunities for young musicians at the Festival have evolved each year thanks to the commitment of John Giddings, who is one of Platform One patrons.

John Giddings, Managing Director, Solo (Isle of Wight Festival), said,

“I am very proud to be a patron of Platform One. I think they do an incredible job of preparing young musicians for the reality of the music industry.
