Alex Hannard Appeal: Join The Antony Nolan Register At Cowes Week

Nine year old local boy Alex Hannard has a condition called Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) and desperately needs to find a matching bone marrow donor.

Alex HannardDuring Cowes Week, there is an appeal at Shephards Wharf Marina for people to join the Anthony Nolan Register.

If you are a match you could save someone’s life.

How do I join?
If you are aged between 18-40 and are in good health you can sign up for the register.

The process is very simple. After completing an application form, you’ll be able to talk to the team about what it means to join the register and whether you are suitable.

Then you’ll be asked to give a saliva sample, which goes off to the labs in London to test for suitability.

Once that process has taken place, you’ll be sent a registration card and confirmation that your name is on the register.

If you’re thinking of joining the register please visit Shephards Wharf Marina on Wednesday 10th August between 1pm – 8pm or Thursday 11th August between 10am – 1pm.

Are there other ways to help?
For those unable to attend, but keen to sign up, you can join the register by completing an application form online.

If you are not eligible to join the register, you can still support the charity and Alex’s appeal through fundraising for Anthony Nolan.

Please visit the Anthony Nolan Website for a list of fundraising events or advice on organising your own.
