Climate emergency film screening comes to Ventnor: Book your free tickets

A community screening of a new climate emergency film will take place at St Catherine’s Church in Ventnor on Friday 10th April, from 7pm to 9pm.

The event forms part of the People’s National Emergency Briefing, a nationwide initiative bringing the same information presented at Westminster to communities across the UK.

Why the event matters
Organisers say the implications of climate and nature breakdown affect every constituency in the country, touching health and food systems, infrastructure, security, and economic stability.

The film aims to bring together local residents alongside MPs, journalists, councillors, and other influential community figures to engage with the evidence directly.

About the film
The 45-minute film combines authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and other contributors, designed to help audiences process the information on a human level.

It sets out the facts about the threats posed by climate breakdown, but also explores the potential benefits if Government takes genuine emergency action.

Many of those who attended the Westminster screening reported feeling a sense of optimism after confronting the challenge collectively and seeing a potential pathway forward, despite finding the facts alarming.

Practical information
The event runs from 7pm to 9pm at St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor.

Two car parks serve the area: Central car park, opposite Tesco, and a second car park down behind the church.

Organisers note the film is only suitable for those aged 16 and over.
