Local artists to auction painted skateboard decks to support Freshwater skatepark

Freshwater Parish Council is proud to announce a creative fundraising initiative supporting the proposed Freshwater Skatepark and Pump Track on the Isle of Wight.

Local artists have transformed blank skateboard decks into original works of art, creating a vibrant and diverse collection that will be auctioned online to raise funds for the project.

Public exhibition
The initiative combines art, community participation, and youth sport, reflecting the Island’s skateboarding heritage while engaging local talent.

Historic skate locations such as Shide Ramp and Golden Hill Skatepark will be celebrated at a public exhibition, alongside the artworks.

Auctioned artworks
The completed decks will be showcased during an opening evening at Newport and Carisbrooke Community Centre on 2nd April from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, before being sold through an online auction running from 1st April to 9th May 2026.

Members of the public can view the artworks and place bids on the website.

£20,000 funding from National Lottery
The project has received a significant boost with a £20,000 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, bringing the skatepark development closer to its funding goal.

Freshwater Parish Council is working hard to ensure that construction begins within the next 12 months, creating a lasting facility for skaters, riders, young people, families, and the wider community.
