A night to remember
The opening event drew a packed crowd throughout the evening.

Visitors enjoyed a celebration of local skateboarding culture, including displays showcasing historic Isle of Wight skate spots such as Shide Ramp and Golden Hill Skatepark, alongside a wider look at the history of skateboarding.

Local skaters take to the ramp
Adding to the atmosphere, a live skate ramp featured demonstrations from local skaters including John Cattle and Hamish Flemming, as well as some of the Island’s most promising young riders.

Their performances highlighted the importance of developing a new, modern skate facility in Freshwater.

High Sheriff donation boosts the campaign
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of a generous £500 donation from High Sheriff Jacqueline Gazzard in support of the project. The contribution was warmly received and reflects growing backing for the skatepark initiative.

“The opening night was a fantastic success and really showed what can be achieved when the community comes together.

“The creativity from our local artists has been incredible, and seeing people of all ages engaging with the project highlights just how important this new skatepark and pump track will be for Freshwater.

“We’re extremely grateful for the support we’ve received so far, including the generous donation from the High Sheriff, and we’re excited to keep building momentum.”
