Island Masters Grasstrack Series will return to Smallbrook in 2022

One of the real successes of 2021 for the Wightlink Warriors was the then newly created Island Masters Series of meetings for Grass Track riders wanting to show their flair and skill on the wide open spaces provided by the Warriors Smallbrook track.

Series co-ordinator Ben Ilsley did a marvellous job in securing great riders to provide a new spectacle for the fans and it’s no surprise that he has again been invited to build another terrific tournament for 2022.

Ilsley: Certain we can look forward to some close wheel to wheel action
Ben said,

“I am really pleased to continue my association with the Wightlink Warriors and contribute towards the action packed summer series of events.

“The Island Masters was a great success last year and attracted many positive comments amongst the track racing community.

“I am excited about how the series can grow in 2022 and I’m certain we can look forward to some close wheel to wheel action on track.”

Bishop: A class act
Warriors Co-owner Barry Bishop added,

“It’s great to be working with Ben again, he is a class act and very well respected in the track racing community. Ben brings a wealth of knowledge to the Wightlink Warriors and we are all looking forward to 2022.

“This season we have decided to expand the opportunities for the grass track racers to enjoy some midweek action by not only staging the three round Island Masters Series again, but we will throw into the mix the NORA British Open Championship as well as the NORA British 500cc Speedway Sidecar Championship.

“It’s very clear that there is going to be plenty of top notch track action and it will be something the club can grow on in the coming years.”
