On Wednesday (9th July), a group of Isle of Wight Greenpeace members, supported by Surfers Against Sewage and Plastic Free Bembridge, travelled to Westminster to take part in the Climate Coalition’s Mass Lobby.
The lobby was to urge MPs to take stronger action on Climate Change and protection of our natural world..
Act Now, Change Forever Campaign
The event is part of the Act Now, Change Forever Campaign organised by the Climate Coalition. Around 5000 people from across the UK came to Parliament to meet directly with their MPs to share stories, highlight local impacts and demand real leadership regarding the crisis.

Isle of Wight East Conservative MP, Joe Robertson, met with the group in Westminster Hall. They raised the threats to nature from the proposed Planning and Infrastructure Bill; the need for a strong Global Plastics Treaty and the need for ratification of the Global Oceans Treaty.
Productive and positive meeting
Joe listened carefully to concerns and agreed to write to ministers calling for a strong Global Plastics Treaty and to look more closely at and respond to the campaign demands.
Members of the group said that they found the meeting productive and positive and look forward to Joe’s response and to working more closely with him on bringing about solutions to the climate and nature crisis.

Fair and ambitious solutions to the climate and nature crisis
The Mass Lobby is part of a wider movement calling for fair and ambitious solutions to the climate and nature crisis.
Volunteers hope their MP will take the message back to Parliament and help drive forward urgent policies that protect people and nature alike.
