Thanks to Richard for details of this event on Saturday where Shanklin residents have a chance to feedback their views on work carried out and planned by Island Roads. Ed

Shanklin IW Councillors Jon Gilbey and Richard Priest have arranged for the Island Roads information bus, as well as staff from the organisation, to visit Western Road, in Shanklin, from 10.30am to 1pm on Saturday 6th July 2013.

Find out more
The visit will provide an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the work that Island Roads will be carrying out in and around the area in the near future, as well as over the coming years – including street lighting, road maintenance and renewal, and issues such as verge cutting.

Share your concerns
Jon Gilbey said,

“The Island, including Shanklin, has already benefitted by the installation of new street lights in many areas, and this visit will provide local residents a chance to discuss any concerns and to be updated on the plans for Shanklin.”

Richard Priest added,

“Local residents and the Town Council have already highlighted concerns, such as the Town Square, and we’d like to thank Marc Griffin and Paul Herbert for enabling residents to contribute to this and other projects, as well as access information locally, and share any concerns they may have.”

Jon and Richard have already involved the Town Council in this project, and are working with Island Roads on other projects that may benefit the Town and involve local groups.

Take part on Saturday
Town Mayor Steve Knight concluded,

“The Town Council welcome the opportunity to work with Island Roads to improve the infrastructure of the Town, including the roads, and I hope as many residents as possible will take the opportunity to meet with colleagues from Island Roads and have a look at what is planned.”
