Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers portrait graces National Portrait Gallery

Last updated:

A portrait of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers from award-winning Isle of Wight sensation, Wet Leg, is now showing at the National Portrait Gallery.

Their portrait, taken by photographer Sadie Catt, is part of an NPG exhibition titled, New Visions and Voices: Contemporary Portraits by Women.

It sits in good company along the likes of Littel Simz, FKA twigs, Caroline Criado Perez, Joy Crookes, Mary Beard and more.

The NPG say,

This display features portraits of innovative and trailblazing figures from different fields of achievement who have shaped and are continuing to make history today.

They represent a series of important new acquisitions from leading women photographers who are each pursuing their own individual approaches to portrait and fashion photography.

This is the first time these works have been shown at the National Portrait Gallery.

Included in this display are a selection of newly commissioned portraits of pioneering women, realised in collaboration with the international photographic co-operative Magnum Photos and supported by the CHANEL Culture Fund.

Renowned photographers and Magnum members Susan Meiselas, Cristina de Middel and Olivia Arthur were invited to create new portraits for the Gallery’s permanent Collection. Kindly supported by the CHANEL Culture Fund.
