The Wightlink sponsored Club had a young and relatively inexperienced team afloat several making their racing debuts for the Club - but produced an encouraging set of results.
Sponsors, supporters and helpers of Ryde Rowing Club were entertained at an informal gathering at their Clubhouse on Friday evening (25th January) to thank them for their support during the last year.
The squad competed over the weekend in the Dart Totnes R.C. Autumn Head, where they produced some impressive results over the 3,000 course on the River Dart raced over three divisions.
Ryde Rowing Club – in conjunction with the Isle of Wight boat builders AB Composites – will build a new mould for a Coastal Four, allowing IW rowing clubs the chance to have competitive racing Coastal Fours built on the Island.
Ryde Rowing Club member, Sharon Ayles, coxed the England Mixed Coxed Coastal Quad – and also supported the management and coaching of the England squad at the Commonwealth Beach Rowing Sprint Championships.
The blustery conditions had little impact on Ryde Rowing Club's J16 coxed four who comfortably won their event at the weekend – the Club's fifth J16 title of the season.
Brilliant performance from Josh Lee, Tom Starkey, Tye Cameron and Austin Smith with Cox, Daniel Sanderson, at the Woolston Regatta, hosted by Southampton Rowing Club last weekend.
