Tennis is back on the agenda at Seaclose Park, where two of the three courts are now open again for play.
The courts had been temporarily closed during and after the Isle of Wight Festival. Thanks to a swift and well-coordinated response from the Isle of Wight council’s public realm, parks and open spaces team, the facilities are now ready for players to enjoy once more.
Netball and cycle path also open
Netball players also have reason to celebrate, with the netball courts at Seaclose now open again for training, matches, or casual games in the summer sun.
The shared-use path known as N120, which runs along the water’s edge from Seaclose Park towards Island Harbour, has reopened too — popular with both walkers and cyclists.
Fastest ever reinstatement of facilities
Each summer, Seaclose Park transforms into the site of the Isle of Wight Festival, a major event that draws thousands of visitors.
This large-scale event often requires restoration work afterwards, but this year the council says things were handled more quickly than ever.

Lucioni: Getting spaces back up and running quickly was a top priority
Councillor Karen Lucioni, chair of the council’s environment and community protection committee, said,
“We know how important these spaces are to the community, so getting them back up and running quickly was a top priority.”
She added,
“Seaclose Park is more than just a green space — it’s where people come to play, train, relax, and connect. After a major event like the Isle of Wight Festival, there’s always a bit of work to do, but this year we were determined to get everything back in shape as quickly as possible.”
“Thanks to some forward planning and a brilliant team effort, we’ve been able to reopen the courts and the path earlier than expected. It’s been lovely to already see people out enjoying them again — it really makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
