TV Problems Could Get Worse Says Island MP

Back to normal business now and unfortunately this one is not an April Fool.

TV Problems Could Get Worse Says Island MPFollowing the changes that took place last week to TV transmission frequencies when the analogue signal for Channel 5 was switched off, a number of Islanders have contacted Island MP, Andrew Turner’s office.

The tell him that after the change, despite retuning their set top boxes that they’ve been unable to access to a number of TV channels which they were previously able to view.

As readers will remember, the advice from DigitalUK was for everyone to re-tune their boxes after 6am on the 25th March. People still experiencing problems are advised to retune again with the aerial disconnected and then do a factory reset.

Some people have gone down this route but are still having problems.

Mr Turner said:

“A small number of Islanders have contacted me about this issue, but I fear the problem may be bigger than it appears. I suspect some people will simply switch over to using the old terrestrial signal.

“This is fine for the moment; but of course all the old analogue signals will be turned off in 2012. Digital UK need to be aware of these problems so that they can work out how to resolve them.

“If you have been affected I urge you to contact Digital UK to let them know so that they are aware of the scale of the problem. In the meantime I am questioning Ministers from the Dept. of Culture, Media and Sport on what their understanding is of the extent of the problem and how it will be resolved. “
