WightFibre will end its free telephone line service in December, introducing a £2 monthly charge for customers who wish to keep their home phone. Those who cancel will lose their home phone number.
The Isle of Wight broadband provider announced the change in communications to customers this week, citing significantly increased costs over the past five years.
The company has provided the telephone line service free of charge until now.
What customers need to know
The £2 monthly rental charge will apply to bills from 1st December 2025 for customers who continue using their home telephone line.
Customers need take no action if they wish to keep their service – WightFibre will automatically add the charge to their monthly bill.
However, customers who no longer use their telephone line can remove the service entirely and avoid the charge.
Those wishing to cancel must inform WightFibre by replying to the company’s email ([email protected]) before 23rd November 2025.
Permanent loss of numbers
WightFibre warns that removing a telephone line carries significant consequences.
Customers who cancel their service will lose their home phone number permanently.
The company states it cannot restore these numbers if customers later decide to add a telephone line again.
Company response to price change
WightFibre acknowledges the timing presents challenges for customers.
The company stated,
“We understand that price changes aren’t ideal, and we’re committed to keeping costs fair while continuing to improve your service.”
