Isle of Wight showcases electric revolution at annual ‘Going Electric’ event

The Isle of Wight College will once again play host to ‘Going Electric’, a celebration of all things electric, on Sunday 30th July.

Last year, the event drew close to 1,000 visitors and showcased over 30 exhibitors, setting the precedent as the Island’s largest electric vehicle (EV) exhibition.

This year, it’s not just the latest electric cars and vans that will be on display, but electric bikes, home charging solutions, renewable energy options, and much more.

A highlight of the event will undoubtedly be talks from renowned experts exploring various facets of the electric transport revolution and sustainable living.

Sponsors and dealers
The event, sponsored by WightFibre, will bring together the Island’s foremost automotive dealers, including Leslies Motor Group, Esplanade, Premier Motors, Central Garage, Snows, Harwoods, EV Express, and Nixon Automotive, together with specialist consultants Vehicle Consulting Solent and EX Express.

Try out the bikes
A popular feature, the ‘Bike Zone’, will once again give visitors a chance to view, and even test ride, the latest electric bikes with Cyclewight, Isle Access and Keert.

Meet the owners
Additionally, a dedicated ‘Meet the owner’ area will offer attendees the opportunity to interact with EV owners and ask questions about their experiences with electric mobility.

A series of talks
A series of talks, sponsored by Red Funnel, will delve into the electrification of homes and transport, and explore broader issues surrounding renewable technologies and the global environment.

‘Going Electric’ is an initiative of Wight Community Energy, with financial support from Power to Change.

Colin Palmer, Director of Wight Community Energy, offered his insights on the event, saying,

“The world is going electric. The ‘Going Electric’ event will showcase the breadth and depth of this revolution in mobility and home energy, showing what is happening now and where the electric future will take us.”

Where and when
Scheduled to run from 10am to 4pm, the event offers free admission and ample parking at the Isle of Wight College.

Visitors can also enjoy refreshment stands, creating a relaxed environment for meeting friends and fellow enthusiasts at the show.
