Creative Island announces funding opportunities for cultural projects on the Isle of Wight

Two new funding opportunities have been announced by Creative Island as part of “Can You Hear Us?”, a six-week Island-wide celebration of culture taking place in autumn 2026 and funded by Arts Council England.

The programme invites residents, artists, community groups and organisations to play an active role in shaping cultural activity across the Isle of Wight throughout 2026.

Micro-Grants now open
Creative Island has launched the “Can You Hear Us?” Micro-Grants Programme. It offers grants of £500–£1,000 to support 20–25 locally led creative projects.

The fund enables groups and individuals to deliver activity anywhere on the Island between March and October 2026.

It aims to spark fresh ideas, strengthen local participation and support both new and established groups as they contribute to the Island’s cultural celebrations.

Applications close on 30th January at midnight.

How to apply
Residents can apply through Creative Lives, which hosts the programme’s online application portal.

See the website for more information and how to apply.

Cultural Leadership Programme announced
Alongside the Micro-Grants, Creative Island has launched a fully-funded Cultural Leadership Programme.

It offers a cohort of 12 Island-based individuals the chance to develop their skills, confidence, networks and leadership practice.

The programme runs from March to October 2026. It includes coaching, go-and-see opportunities, peer networking and moments that participants curate for themselves.

Applications close at midnight on Sunday 25th January 2026.

Who the leadership programme supports
The programme welcomes participants who want to make a positive difference to life on the Island and feel ready to grow as leaders.

It welcomes people who bring others together, make things happen or hold a vision for how culture on the Island could evolve.

Creative Island uses the term “culture” broadly to include the creative, heritage, environmental, social, education and library sectors, as well as community spaces where people gather and share what matters to them.

Potential applicants include freelancers, artists and people working within organisations.

Guidance from the facilitator
Facilitator Amanda Smethurst encourages a wide range of people to apply.

She said,

“You don’t need to already see yourself as a leader.

“We’re looking for people who bring others together, make things happen, or have a vision for how culture on the Island could grow and evolve.”

How to apply
Applications for the Cultural Leadership Programme can be submitted through Creative Island’s website.
